“A quiet night in a slumbering city. Detective Percival von Clean shines as this city’s brightest star—the number one detective. My arch nemesis. Tonight, I will dethrone him. I will commit the perfect crime, and then— I’LL be the one to crack the unsolvable case.”

Gameplay

In order to surpass the #1 detective, you must reverse your job: create the unsolvable crime instead of solving it! To do this, you'll need to gather evidence pointing to The Bald Burglar or Connor the Conman. You'll plant just enough to make a fool of Percival, and the rest will be saved for your triumphant reveal after he gives up the case!

Moving around... After pulling in to the police station, you find all the doors are either closed or locked. It is the dead of night, after all. To get inside you'll need to click on a door to open it or use a lockpick on a locked door. If you mouse over a room, you can see a preview of it. By clicking on it, you move into the room if the door to it is open. If the door is locked, you will need to use a lockpick or key on it. If the door is closed but unlocked, you will need to click on it to open it. When you're ready for your getaway, step outside and click on the getaway vehicle (your normal car).

Gathering items and examining objects... You can only interact with objects in the same room as you. If it is in a different room, you will need to move there first. By clicking on an item, you can examine and interact with it. If it can be collected, it will automatically be added to your inventory.

Framing a suspect... There are three parts to framing a suspect.

  1. Use the suspect's signature item. The Bald Burglar likes using duct tape to cover his tracks and Connor the Conman always uses a skeleton key to bluff his way into buildings.
  2. Collect a DNA sample you can later use as the smoking gun that "proves" the suspect did it. Hair and nail clippings of culprits are stored in vials located in the evidence room.
  3. Steal a valuable. When you later "recover" it, it'll be your golden ticket to becoming the new #1 detective. The Bald Burglar loves expensive wigs and Connor the Conman likes forged vases.

On the left side of your screen, the planted and gathered evidence is tracked. When you use a signature item, collect a smoking gun, or nab a golden ticket, the icons will go from transparent to solid. Use this to track your progress. You can also learn more about the culprits here by clicking the folder icons.

Be careful to only frame only one of the suspects. If you frame both, Percival may notice something is off...

Around the Police Stations

What to watch out for...

If you're caught on camera, it is game over. It doesn't take a "genius" like Percival to remember to check cameras for evidence. When entering a room, make sure to cover the camera with duct tape or temporarily blind it with a laser pointer before you leave.

If opening a door, make sure to use a glove to avoid leaving fingerprints for Percival to find. If you do leave prints, you can always double back and use duct tape to remove the fingerprints.

Your salary got cut recently, so you may consider cracking the safe in the evidence room. If you do, make sure to clean up your fingerprints after opening it.

Items...

Duct tape can solve any problem! To be specific, it can cover cameras and remove fingerprints from doors and safes.

Laser pointers can blind a camera until you've snuck out of the room.

Gloves can open an unlocked door or safe without leaving prints.

Lockpicks can open a locked door without leaving prints or unlock a safe.

A master key is somewhere around the police station and can open any door without leaving fingerprints.
